Amends Section 97-37-7 of Mississippi Code to exempt active or retired members of the United States Armed Forces from additional weapons training requirements for carrying weapons in courthouses and other specified locations, provided they hold a valid concealed pistol permit under Section 45-9-101.

Current law requires persons with concealed pistol permits to complete an instructional course in safe firearm handling from a certified instructor to carry weapons in courthouses (except courtrooms) and certain other locations; military exemption removes this training requirement.

Military personnel remain subject to all other eligibility requirements and restrictions for concealed carry permits, including restrictions on carrying in courtrooms during judicial proceedings, police stations, detention facilities, and places of nuisance.

Effective date: July 1, 2014.
