Amends Section 97-3-7 of Mississippi Code to clarify how prior convictions are counted when determining third or subsequent simple domestic violence offenses.

Changes the standard for counting prior simple domestic violence convictions from disregarding convictions older than seven years to considering all prior domestic violence convictions regardless of when they occurred.

Third or subsequent convictions of simple domestic violence become felonies punishable by imprisonment of 5-10 years instead of misdemeanor penalties.

Maintains the seven-year lookback period for aggravated domestic violence convictions, which continues to require disregarding convictions older than seven years.

Takes effect July 1, 2014.
