Adds new subsection (12) to Section 73-11-51 allowing the State Board of Funeral Service to issue funeral directing licenses to persons aged 55 or older with at least 5 consecutive years of employment at a Mississippi licensed funeral establishment.

Applicants must be presently employed at a licensed funeral establishment in Mississippi and apply between July 1, 2014 and July 31, 2014 (30-day window).

Applicants must pay all applicable fees for application and licensure, and provide written documentation of previous experience and current employment from the funeral establishment owner or management.

This provision exempts qualifying applicants from the standard licensing requirements, which normally require either a 24-month resident trainee period (for funeral directing) or completion of an accredited funeral service education program plus examination.

Effective date: July 1, 2014.
