MS HB1114

Requires all passengers in motor vehicles to wear properly fastened safety seat belts while operating on public roads, streets, or highways in Mississippi.

Applies to all operators, passengers, and children under seven years of age, except those protected by child passenger restraint devices or belt positioning booster seats under Sections 63-7-301 through 63-7-311.

Exempts farm vehicles, implements of husbandry, farm tractors, buses, and individuals with written physician verification of medical inability to wear seat belts.

Applies only to passenger motor vehicles designed to carry 15 or fewer passengers, excluding motorcycles, mopeds, all-terrain vehicles, and trailers.

Takes effect July 1, 2014.
