Amends Section 37-7-203 of the Mississippi Code to change how school board trustees are selected in municipalities with a mayor-council form of government and population exceeding 100,000 according to the 2000 census.

Requires board members to be elected from individual wards rather than appointed, with one member elected from each of seven wards in the municipality.

Establishes four-year terms for all board members, with elections held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday of June 2017 and every four years thereafter during general municipal elections.

Requires candidates to comply with the state election code provisions under Chapter 15, Title 23 of the Mississippi Code.

Includes transition provisions allowing board members serving on the effective date to continue until the first Saturday of July 2017, when newly elected members take office.
