MS HB1144

Adds new subsection (12) to Section 73-11-51 allowing the State Board of Funeral Service to issue funeral directing licenses to applicants with at least 5 consecutive years of employment experience at a licensed Mississippi funeral establishment who apply between July 1, 2014 and July 31, 2014.

Requires applicants under the new provision to be currently employed at a licensed Mississippi funeral establishment and to submit written documentation of their previous experience and current employment from the funeral establishment owner or management.

Exempts applicants meeting the experience and employment requirements from standard licensing examination and educational credential requirements that normally apply to funeral directing license applicants.

Applicants must pay all applicable application and licensure fees set by the board.

Effective date is July 1, 2014.
