Amends Mississippi Code Section 23-15-153 to allow county boards of supervisors to authorize additional per diem payments to the chairman of the commissioners of election for up to five additional days of work.

The chairman receives the same per diem rate ($84.00 per day) as other election commissioners for performing additional duties as chairman, for periods of no less than five hours accumulated over two or more days.

County boards of supervisors may also authorize up to five additional days of per diem for all commissioners of election beyond the annual limitations already set by county population size.

Election commissioners must submit signed certification forms detailing hours worked and compensation claimed, made under oath and penalties of perjury, before payment can be processed.

The act takes effect July 1, 2014.
