MS HB1304

Adds a new civil penalty for any person who discloses information derived from an executive session of a public body: minimum $25,000 for a first violation, $50,000 for a second violation, and increases by $25,000 for each subsequent violation.

Designates the Mississippi Ethics Commission as the enforcement authority, which receives complaints and conducts hearings to determine violations.

Clarifies that disclosure of executive session information is subject to the civil penalties outlined in Section 25-41-7(7), not the existing $500 first offense and $1,000 second offense penalties.

Becomes effective July 1, 2014.
