House Bill 140 Summary

• Amends Section 71-5-355 of the Mississippi Code to provide that unemployment benefits paid to an eligible individual shall not be charged against an employer's experience rating if the employee voluntarily leaves employment to accept other work.

• Adds the phrase "or to accept other work" as an exception to the charging of benefits against an employer's experience-rating record, alongside the existing exception for leaving without good cause attributable to the employer.

• Effective July 1, 2014.
