Creates a misdemeanor offense for knowingly using or claiming to hold a fraudulent, fictitious, or revoked military record.

Applies when the false military record is used in business advertisements or promotions, or to obtain employment preferences, licenses, educational admission, government positions, or other benefits.

Military records include enlistment records, occupational specialties, medals, awards, decorations, or certifications from U.S. Armed Forces or state military forces.

Violations are punishable by a fine of up to $1,000, imprisonment of up to six months in county jail, or both.

Takes effect July 1, 2014.
