Requires arresting law enforcement officers to check the Mississippi Protection Order Registry after making an arrest for misdemeanor domestic violence and inform the judge setting bail of any existing protective orders against the accused.

Mandates judges or conservators of the peace to consider the existence of domestic abuse protection orders when determining appropriate bail in cases involving offenses against current or former spouses, dating partners, family members, or persons with whom the accused shares a biological or legally adopted child.

Applies to arrests for misdemeanor acts of domestic violence including simple domestic violence, disturbing family or public peace, and stalking committed within 24 hours of arrest.

Effective date is July 1, 2014.
