Requires the Department of Corrections to provide Adult Basic Education (ABE) with individualized instruction in language, arts, and mathematics for offenders at Walnut Grove Correctional Facility

Mandates remedial classes for any offender who fails a subject under the ABE program until they pass the failed subject area

Requires additional classes in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) for offenders who have already earned a high school diploma or GED

Continues existing requirement that the facility provide education leading to a high school diploma or GED, including vocational education programs

Effective date: July 1, 2014
