Proposes constitutional amendment to Section 202 of the Mississippi Constitution of 1890 to change how the State Superintendent of Public Education is selected

Transfers appointment authority from the State Board of Education to the Governor or Governor-elect, effective beginning with the 2015 general election

State Superintendent appointed by the Governor will serve at the Governor's will and pleasure, with the first appointed term beginning in January 2016

State Superintendent will serve as chief administrative officer for the State Department of Education and administer the department in accordance with policies established by the Office of the Governor

Proposed amendment to be submitted to qualified electors for vote at the November 2013 general election
