French Camp Academy Panthers Football Team defeated Smithville High School 27-6 on December 6, 2013, to win their first MHSAA Class 1A State Championship.

Team advanced to the championship game after losing its first four games and clinching the third seed in Region 3-1A on the final day of the regular season.

Jesse Hosket had 187 passing yards, Hagan Box returned a punt for a touchdown, and Daniel Hughes recorded 12 tackles and two sacks in the championship game.

Head Coach Nathan Wright, in his ninth season at French Camp Academy, compiled a 60-58 record with the team and assistant coaches Bruce Hosket and Kevin Sorensen.

Legislature commends and congratulates the Panthers football team and coaching staff for winning the state championship and bringing honor to their school and the State of Mississippi.
