Commends and congratulates Chelsea Kaitlin Rick of Fulton, Mississippi, for being crowned Miss Mississippi 2013 on July 13, 2013.

Rick won multiple awards at the state competition including Talent Preliminary Award, Swimsuit Preliminary Award, Evening Gown Poise Award, and over $10,000 in scholarships.

Represented Mississippi at the 93rd Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City in September 2013, where she was named a Top 7 Quality of Life Award Finalist and won one of two $5,000 STEM scholarships.

Rick is a 2012 Millsaps College graduate with a biology degree and current second-year medical student at William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine who plans to practice medicine in rural Mississippi.

Created and championed the "Full Plates, Healthy States" platform initiative to combat childhood hunger and food insecurity, with personal involvement in food drives, pantry support, and nutrition advocacy across Mississippi.
