Mourns the loss of David Michael Proffitt, who passed away on February 24, 2014, and expresses sympathy to his family and friends.

Recognizes Proffitt's athletic achievements including being the "winningest pitcher in the SEC" at Mississippi State University, a two-time All-SEC performer, and helping lead the Bulldogs to the 1971 NCAA College World Series.

Honors Proffitt's professional accomplishments including being drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1972, serving as Past President of the Mississippi Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials, and his 1993 induction into the Mississippi State Sports Hall of Fame.

Acknowledges Proffitt's community contributions as a faithful member and elder of Faith Presbyterian Church and his 42-year marriage to his wife Harriet, with two daughters and one grandson.

Directs that copies of the resolution be furnished to Proffitt's family and the Capitol Press Corps.
