Designates the week of May 12-16, 2014, as Mississippi Home Education Week in recognition of home education as a valid educational alternative in the state.

Recognizes Mississippi's commitment to parental choice and involvement in education alongside public and private schooling options.

Acknowledges home education's historical significance, noting it produced notable Americans including George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Thomas Edison, and that 1.5 million U.S. students (2.9 percent) were home-educated according to 2007 Department of Education data.

Notes that home-educated students have demonstrated academic and social success, with high percentages obtaining advanced degrees and developing effective socialization skills.

Directs the State Department of Education and Capitol Press Corps to be provided copies of the resolution.
