Commemorates the life and legacy of David Michael Proffitt, who passed away on February 24, 2014, recognizing him as a community leader and decorated veteran in Mississippi and Brookhaven.

Honors his athletic achievements as a pitcher for Mississippi State University, including being the "winningest pitcher in the SEC" his senior year, a two-time All-SEC performer, and inductee into the Mississippi State Sports Hall of Fame in 1993.

Acknowledges his role in Mississippi State's 1971 NCAA College World Series advancement and his subsequent drafting by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1972 to play in their minor league system.

Recognizes his professional service as Past President and secretary-treasurer of the Mississippi Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials and his membership as an Elder of Faith Presbyterian Church.

Extends deepest sympathy to his surviving family members including his wife of 42 years, Harriet, daughters Molly and Sally, grandson Michael Nicholas, and extended family.
