Commends Claiborne Barksdale's distinguished career and exemplary leadership as Chief Executive Officer of the Barksdale Reading Institute upon his retirement.

Recognizes Barksdale's work since 2000 leading the Barksdale Reading Institute in improving literacy skills of Mississippi schoolchildren.

Acknowledges Barksdale's prior professional experience including law practice in Jackson, work for U.S. Senator Thad Cochran, service with BellSouth Cellular Corporation, and clerkship with the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Notes Barksdale's involvement in education and children's organizations including the Mississippi Children's Museum, The Parents' Campaign, and Mississippi Building Blocks, with plans to continue involvement in these organizations after retirement.

Directs copies of the resolution be furnished to Mr. Barksdale and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
