Frank D. Montague, Jr., a prominent Hattiesburg attorney and community leader, passed away on December 22, 2013, at age 88.

Montague earned his LL.B. from the University of Mississippi in 1950 and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1951, serving as student body president at Ole Miss and earning the American Society of Civil Engineers Award of Merit.

He was a partner at Montague, Pittman and Varnado law firm, served as Hattiesburg city judge (1956-1960) and city attorney (1965-1974), former Mississippi Bar Association president, and was included in "The Best Lawyers in America" for 25 consecutive years.

Montague received the first Mississippi Defense Lawyers Association Lifetime Achievement Award, was inducted into the University of Mississippi Law School Hall of Fame in 2012, and served in the United States Navy during World War II.

He is survived by three sons who are all practicing attorneys and five grandchildren, and the House of Representatives extends sympathy to his family and friends.
