MS SB2075

Amends Section 25-11-103 of the Mississippi Code to clarify that the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS) cannot interpret or restrict municipalities' and political subdivisions' authority to interpret their own personnel policies.

Adds language stating that PERS has no authority to limit the power of governing authorities of municipalities or other political subdivisions to interpret their personnel policies or have those policies interpreted by a court of competent jurisdiction.

Preserves PERS's limited authority to exclude certain creditable service from retirement benefit calculations that exceeds maximums authorized by Section 25-3-91 et seq., while preventing PERS from broadly controlling personnel policy interpretation.

Takes effect upon passage.
