SB 2084 Summary

• Authorizes state employees to use up to six (6) weeks of earned major medical leave for child adoption or foster care placement and to care for the newly placed child within one (1) year of placement.

• Amends Mississippi Code Section 25-3-95 to add this new provision regarding adoption and foster care leave eligibility.

• Applies to all state employees except public university employees who do not contribute to the Mississippi Public Employees' Retirement System or the State Institutions of Higher Learning Optional Retirement Program.

• Takes effect July 1, 2014.
