Requires each public and private high school in Mississippi to have an operational automated external defibrillator (AED) on school grounds, with public-private partnerships encouraged to cover purchase and training costs.

Directs the State Board of Health to develop regulations mandating preventative cardiac screening for student athletes to detect conditions that may lead to illness or death during physical activity, including advanced screening for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

Requires coaches and trainers of student athletes (paid or unpaid) to complete training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and proper use of automated external defibrillators, with the State Department of Education to provide training at least four times per year.

Directs the State Department of Education to require all public school districts and accredited private schools to comply with cardiac screening regulations beginning with the 2014-2015 school year.

Takes effect July 1, 2014.
