Requires counties and municipalities to adopt one of the last three editions of the International Building Code (IBC), International Residential Code (IRC), or other codes (electrical, plumbing, mechanical, fire, fuel gas) as amended by the Mississippi Building Codes Council.

Exempts fire sprinkler requirements from the IRC for new or existing one- or two-family dwellings.

Allows counties and municipalities to opt out of code requirements by adopting a resolution within 120 days of the law's effective date.

Exempts farm structures, certain industrial facilities (manufacturing, utilities, pipelines, telecommunications), fairground buildings, hunting/fishing camps, manufactured housing, and salvage lumber use in Pearl River County from building code enforcement.

Effective August 1, 2014.
