A third misdemeanor conviction for child abuse or neglect becomes a felony offense, punishable by up to 5 years imprisonment and/or a fine of up to $5,000

The felony enhancement applies whether the prior offenses were committed against the same child or different children

First and second misdemeanor offenses remain punishable by up to $1,000 fine and/or up to 1 year in jail

Amends Section 97-5-39 of the Mississippi Code of 1972
