SB 2760 Summary

• Increases the at-risk student funding adjustment in the Mississippi Adequate Education Program (MAEP) from 5% to 7% of the base student cost.

• The at-risk adjustment is calculated by multiplying the base student cost by the percentage (now 7%) and then by the number of students participating in the federal free school lunch program in each district.

• Applies to MAEP allocations beginning July 1, 2014.

• All other provisions of the MAEP funding formula in Section 37-151-7, Mississippi Code of 1972, remain unchanged.
