Commends the life and public service of former State Senator Charles Ray Nix of Panola County, who died on December 21, 2013, and expresses legislative sympathy to his family.

Recognizes Nix's 16 years of service in the Mississippi Senate (1972-1988) representing Panola, Yalobusha, Quitman and Tate Counties, including his chairmanship of the Conservation Committee in 1980 and 1984.

Credits Nix with instrumental role in passing conservation legislation including hunter education requirements, crossbow authorization for paraplegics, landfill moratorium, groundwater quality standards, and prohibiting hunting from public roads.

Notes nearly 4,000 acres of prime hunting property in Panola County were named the Charles Ray Nix Wildlife Management Area in his honor by the Commission on Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks.

Documents Nix's post-Senate career as Executive Director of the South Panola Area Chamber of Commerce and Panola County Development Foundation (1984-1996), helping attract industrial development to Batesville.
