East Mississippi Community College football team won the 2013 NJCAA National Championship on December 8, 2013, defeating No. 1 Georgia Military 52-32 at the Mississippi Bowl in Biloxi.

The Lions finished the season 12-0, outscoring opponents 747-119 across 12 victories, and achieved their second national championship in three years (also won 2011 NJCAA National Championship).

Head Coach Buddy Stephens led the team through his six-year tenure; key offensive performances came from Lakenderic Thomas (234 rushing yards, 3 touchdowns), Antoinne Adkins (6 receptions, 186 yards, 2 touchdowns), and Dontreal Pruitt (340 passing yards, 3 touchdowns).

Defensive lineman Jimmie Gipson III recorded four sacks in the championship game and was named Most Valuable Defensive Player.

The Mississippi Legislature recognizes and salutes the team, coaches, and Head Coach Buddy Stephens for bringing honor to East Mississippi Community College, the community, and the State of Mississippi.
