Mississippi State University football team defeated Rice 44-7 in the 55th AutoZone Liberty Bowl on December 31, 2013, achieving the largest margin of victory in any bowl game played in 2013.

Head Coach Dan Mullen earned a record 3-1 bowl record in his five seasons as MSU head coach, the most bowl wins by any MSU coach ever, with the team securing its fourth consecutive winning season.

Sophomore quarterback Dak Prescott set a Liberty Bowl record with five touchdowns (three passing, two rushing) and 283 passing yards, while junior receiver Jameon Lewis set an MSU single-game record with 220 receiving yards.

The resolution commends and congratulates the MSU Bulldogs football team and Head Coach Dan Mullen for their outstanding 2013 regular season and Liberty Bowl victory.

The resolution directs that the commendation be presented to the MSU Bulldogs football team and Coach Dan Mullen, forwarded to MSU President Mark E. Keenum and the Board of Trustees, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
