Designates the week of January 20-24, 2014, as "Mississippi Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (MAICU) Week" in Mississippi.

MAICU was organized December 7, 1967, and comprises seven nonprofit, accredited member institutions: Belhaven University, Blue Mountain College, Millsaps College, Mississippi College, Rust College, Tougaloo College, and William Carey University.

Member institutions enrolled 15,835 students in fall 2013 (70% Mississippi residents), offered 140 graduate and undergraduate degree programs including law and medical schools, and produced 3,961 graduates in 2013.

MAICU institutions have 61,340 alumni residing in 81 Mississippi counties who work in ministerial, teaching, medical, legal, public service, and business fields, with alumni serving in state government and U.S. Congress.

Member institutions have provided continuous higher education service for over 120 years, with Mississippi College being the oldest institution of higher learning in the state, founded in January 1826.
