Oak Grove High School "Warriors" won the Mississippi Class 6A State Championship on December 6, 2013, defeating Tupelo 14-7 in 35-degree weather, marking the school's first-ever state football championship.

Head Coach Nevil Barr achieved the championship in his 13th season at Oak Grove with a 133-38 record; he has a 255-114 overall record across 31 seasons of coaching.

Quarterback Kirk McCarty completed 23 of 40 passes for 268 yards and two touchdowns in the championship game, with Jordan Mitchell recording 149 receiving yards and Trey Sloan intercepting the Tupelo quarterback twice.

The resolution commends the team roster of approximately 100 players and coaching staff, including longtime Assistant Coach Steve Young who retired after 32 years at Oak Grove following this championship win.

The Legislature commends and congratulates the Oak Grove High School "Warriors" Football Team and Head Coach Nevil Barr for bringing honor to their school, community, and the State of Mississippi.
