Mourns the death of Major General Catherine Smith Lutz of Flora, Mississippi, who served over 30 years in the U.S. military and was the first woman to lead the Mississippi Air National Guard.

Recognizes her promotion to Major General in 2011 and her role as Commander directing Air National Guard Operations and establishing policy for mission readiness.

Acknowledges her 30-year career at the Veterans Administration Hospital as a clinical nurse, supervisor, educator, and compliance officer, combined with 32 years of service in the Mississippi Air National Guard.

Notes her military accomplishments including command of the Air Expeditionary Medical Unit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, graduation from Air Force Flight Nurse School and Air War College, and receipt of the Legion of Merit.

Extends the state's gratitude and sympathy to her surviving family, including her husband Major General (Retired) William Lutz, and directs the resolution be presented to the family and the Adjutant General of the Mississippi Air National Guard.
