Honors the death of Chokwe Lumumba, the 52nd Mayor of Jackson, Mississippi, who passed away on February 25, 2014, after serving approximately eight months in office.

Recognizes Lumumba's career as a civil rights activist, nationally renowned lawyer who represented clients in over 16 jurisdictions, and his service on the Jackson City Council.

Commends Lumumba's signature achievement of securing passage of a One Cent sales tax referendum with 90% support to fund water, sewer, and road infrastructure improvements.

Acknowledges Lumumba's collaborative leadership style, commitment to economic development including the Metrocenter and Convention Center Hotel, and his open approach to achieving progress for Jackson and the Metro area.

Directs that the resolution be presented to Lumumba's surviving family, the Acting Mayor and City Council of Jackson, and the Capitol Press Corps.
