Recognizes and commends Dr. Kirby E. "Skip" Hughes II, Director of the School of Accountancy at the University of Southern Mississippi, upon his retirement effective July 1, 2009 through the date of adoption.

Acknowledges Dr. Hughes' leadership in securing AACSB reaccreditation for the School of Accountancy, placing it among elite accounting programs with separate accreditation.

Highlights Dr. Hughes' accomplishments including implementing Excel skills courses, supporting Beta Alpha Psi, establishing the Principles of Accounting Competency Exam (PACE), and publishing research in top-tier accounting journals.

Notes Dr. Hughes' contributions to university leadership through service on the Executive Committee and Council of Chairs, and his community outreach efforts.

Directs that the resolution be presented to Dr. Hughes and forwarded to the University of Southern Mississippi President and Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning.
