H.W. Byers High School "Lady Lions" won their fourth consecutive MHSAA State Championship in 2A on March 13, 2014, defeating Scott Central 69-54.

Coach Jason Thompson achieved six total state championships with the program: three consecutive titles in 1A from 2011-2013 and three in 2A (2008, 2009, and 2014).

Miracle Duncan was named Most Valuable Player of the Championship Game, and Jequira Thompson received the Scholar Athlete Award.

The 2013-2014 roster included four seniors (Collins, Thompson, Duncan, and Crutcher), three of whom won a Gold Ball every year of their high school careers.

The Mississippi Legislature commends and congratulates the team, coaches, parents, and sponsors, and directs the resolution be presented to Coach Thompson and school leadership.
