Gulfport High School "Admirals" won the MHSAA Class 6A Boys State Championship on March 15, 2014, defeating Grenada 64-59 at the Mississippi Coliseum.

Victory marked Gulfport's ninth state championship (a state record) and first since winning in Class 5A in 2002.

Junior Guard Jahshire Hardnett scored 30 points and hit two crucial free throws with 9.3 seconds remaining, earning him the game's MVP award.

Resolution commends Coach Owen Miller, the basketball team, and coaching staff for bringing honor to Gulfport High School and the State of Mississippi.

Resolution directs presentation to Coach Miller and Principal Michael Lindsey and forwarding to the Gulfport School District Board of Trustees.
