HB 1210 Summary

• Exempts dump trucks, dump trailers, concrete mixing trucks, fuel oil trucks, gasoline trucks, and specialty work trucks from axle spacing requirements, allowing them to carry up to 20,000 pounds per axle plus scale tolerances regardless of distance between axles.

• Permits these exempted vehicles to reach maximum gross weights allowed under Table III weight limits for their respective number of axles, provided all axles are brake-equipped.

• Maintains existing exemptions for concrete product transport vehicles, raw cotton transport vehicles, solid waste collection vehicles, and trailer-mounted log loaders, all limited to 60,000 pounds gross weight.

• Requires all exempted vehicles to comply with operational restrictions including 50-mile radius limits from home base, prohibition from federal interstate highways, and compliance with local road and bridge weight limitations.

• Effective date: July 1, 2015.
