HB 1359 Summary

• Amends Mississippi Code Section 63-3-309 to allow motorcycles that are the sole occupant of a lane to proceed through a red light if the traffic sensor is not triggered to change to green.

• Motorcycles may cautiously enter the intersection to proceed straight through or make a turn when stopped at a red light without sensor activation, except where "No Turn On Red" signs are posted.

• Motorcycles must yield the right-of-way to pedestrians lawfully within adjacent crosswalks and to other vehicular traffic lawfully using the intersection.

• Applies the same exception to motorcycles facing red with green arrow signals when the motorcycle does not trigger the sensor.

• Takes effect July 1, 2015.
