Extends the repeal date of Section 47-5-940 from July 3, 2015, to July 3, 2018, allowing continuation of the drug and alcohol treatment program at Bolivar County Regional Facility.

Department of Corrections may contract with Bolivar County Regional Facility for a five-year pilot program serving up to 250 inmates in intensive substance abuse treatment.

Program targets inmates within 18 months of earned release or parole date and includes assessment, comprehensive treatment with relapse prevention and anger management, and post-release aftercare with transition planning.

Department must file annual reports on program recidivism data and may renew the program if it meets performance requirements determined by the Legislature.

Takes effect upon passage.
