School boards in each local school district must develop and adopt their own curriculum, which must be consistent with Mississippi Curriculum Frameworks and aligned with state assessment standards.

School districts must submit their adopted curriculum to the State Department of Education annually for approval to ensure compliance with state requirements and standards.

The State Board of Education's curriculum committee is tasked with recommending changes to the Mississippi Curriculum Frameworks guidelines.

The State Department of Education shall provide curriculum guidance to school districts upon request and return non-compliant curriculums with recommended changes for improvement.

The act takes effect July 1, 2015, and amends existing code sections governing curriculum standards, instructional programs, and superintendent duties.
