Amends Section 77-5-231 of the Mississippi Code to add new subsection (2) authorizing generation and transmission electric corporations to undertake economic development activities.

Permits these electric associations to engage in economic development directly, indirectly, alone, or in conjunction with other entities.

Authorizes investment in or acquisition and development of business and industrial sites, infrastructure, and services to attract new or existing businesses and create or maintain employment opportunities.

Economic development activities may be undertaken to positively impact the corporation's service territory or promote the sale of electric energy.

Act takes effect upon passage.
