Amends Section 37-177-5 of the Mississippi Code to require the Mississippi Reading Panel to establish one screening assessment for mandatory use in all schools for Grades K-3 as part of reading intervention programs.

Removes previous language requiring a suggestive list of four or more screening assessments for schools not selected for critical reading intervention programs.

Maintains the Mississippi Reading Panel's role in recommending equitable alternative standardized assessments and cut scores for Third Grade students scoring at the lowest achievement level or unable to take the state annual accountability assessment.

Specifies the Reading Panel will consist of six members: the State Superintendent of Public Education (chair), chairs of House and Senate Education Committees, one Governor-appointed member, and two members appointed by the State Superintendent.

Takes effect July 1, 2015.
