House Bill 999 Summary

• Allocates 1% of fuel tax revenue from gasoline, diesel fuel, and kerosene sold within Jackson to the City of Jackson beginning August 15, 2015, and monthly thereafter.

• Dedicates Jackson's allocated funds exclusively to street construction and repair and infrastructure maintenance and improvements, not general fund revenue.

• Provides funding to help Jackson offset ad valorem tax losses from state-owned property and increased infrastructure and law enforcement costs resulting from being the state capital.

• Amends Section 27-65-75 and Section 27-5-101 of the Mississippi Code to establish the allocation mechanism and define fuel taxes included in the distribution.
