Recognizes and commends the late Mr. Dewey Townsend for his distinguished civic leadership and accomplishments benefiting Montgomery County and the City of Winona, Mississippi.

Honors Townsend's service as the first African-American member of the Winona Board of Aldermen, where he served for 14 years and facilitated numerous positive changes.

Acknowledges Townsend's major accomplishments including construction of Highway 82 Bypass, Winona Ballpark and Coliseum, business recruitment, affordable housing initiatives, and essential public services like water provision to south Winona.

Recognizes his distinguished education career spanning 16 years as Senior Supervisor for the State Department of Education Title I Program, principal, and vocational agriculture teacher, as well as his educational credentials from Alcorn A&M and Tuskegee Institute.

Directs that copies of the resolution be provided to Townsend's family, the City of Winona, and the Capitol Press Corps.
