Mourns the death of Mr. Johnny Louis Perkins, a Mississippi native born in Leflore County on July 6, 1949, who passed away on April 6, 2014.

Recognizes Perkins' service as an educator in the Detroit Public School System and his contributions to the lives of countless students.

Acknowledges his religious faith, joining Providence M.B. Church at age ten and maintaining loyalty to the Gospel throughout his life.

Expresses sympathy to his surviving family members, including his wife Mary Wade Perkins (married May 5, 1972), two children, six grandchildren, and siblings including State Representative Willie J. Perkins, Sr.

Directs that copies of the resolution be furnished to Perkins' family and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
