Commemorates the life and legacy of James Ervin Dees of Ripley, Mississippi, who passed away.

Dees served as Tippah County Circuit Clerk for 28 years, beginning January 3, 1984, until declining health forced his retirement.

Recognized for his compassion, including personally purchasing a tombstone for an unidentified newborn found near Ripley and writing a poem for Red Ribbon Week that raised funds for Mothers Against Drunk Drivers in memory of his wife.

Received the 1996 Victim Advocate Award from Tippah County Survival, Inc., and was active as a member of Concord Baptist Church, a 32nd Degree Mason, and a Gideon.

Legislature expresses condolences to his surviving family members, including four children, one step-daughter, one sister, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
