Commends and congratulates the First Baptist Church of Madison on its 125th anniversary, celebrated on April 19, 2015.

Church was organized on November 3, 1889, with 20 founding members and originally named Madison Station Baptist Church with J.R. Casten as first pastor at $150 annual salary.

Church experienced significant growth and expansion through multiple building programs, including a $1.8 million sanctuary completed in 1986 and a $16.5 million building project completed under current leadership.

Church survived a major fire in 1944 that destroyed its building and transitioned from half-time to full-time operations in 1953 with weekly services.

Directs copies of the resolution be furnished to the First Baptist Church of Madison and Capitol Press Corps.
