House and Senate mourn the loss and commemorate the life of retired Mississippi Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Noble Lee, who passed away on January 21, 2015.

Roy Noble Lee served as District Attorney for the 8th Judicial District from 1951 to 1964, Circuit Judge from 1975 to 1976, and Mississippi Supreme Court Justice from 1976 until his retirement on January 4, 1993, serving as Chief Justice from 1987 to 1993.

Roy Noble Lee and his father Percy Mercer Lee are the only father and son to serve as Chief Justices of the Mississippi Supreme Court.

During his tenure on the Mississippi Supreme Court, Chief Justice Lee's leadership led to the creation of the Mississippi Court of Appeals and the Administrative Office of the Courts.

The resolution directs that copies be furnished to Chief Justice Lee's family and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
