Commends and congratulates Brookhaven Academy, Inc., upon the occasion of its 50th anniversary as an educational institution in Brookhaven and Lincoln County.

Recognizes that the school was established in 1965 as Southern Schools, Inc., and began classes with 108 seventh through twelfth graders on January 5, 1970, on the Whitworth College campus.

Notes that grades one through six were added in the 1970-1971 school year, and Brookhaven Academy, Inc., obtained its charter on February 17, 1971, taking over operations from Southern Schools, Inc.

Acknowledges the ten men who each donated $1,000 in 1969 to help establish the private school: Tullius Brady, Julius T. Burt, Carroll D. Calhoun, Orville O. Culver, L. Rea Godbold, Scott F. Hailey, S.E. Moreton, Jr., and Charles Ralph Smith.

Directs that copies of the resolution be furnished to Brookhaven Academy, Inc., and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
