Honors the life of William W. Martin, Esquire, and expresses condolences upon his passing.

Martin was born October 18, 1956, in Cleveland, Mississippi, and resided in Gulfport for 26 years; graduated from East Side High School (1974), Tougaloo College with a bachelor of science in political science (1978), and University of Mississippi School of Law (1981).

Served as assistant public defender in Jackson County Public Defenders Office (first African American in that position), assistant district attorney for the Second Circuit Court District (also first African American in that role), and law partner in Conway and Martin, Attorneys-at-Law beginning in 1996.

Appointed as Harrison County Supervisor for District Four in January 1999 and subsequently elected; served as vice president of the board in 2001 and president in 2002.

Survived by three children (Kegi, Wendelyn, and Tyler) and one grandson; resolution directs copies be provided to his family and Capitol Press Corps.
